Focused Skills Lab: Advanced Pivot Tables

A one video course for using Excel in fundraising

Boost your basic pivot table with advanced tools: crosstabs, numerical formatting, date filtering, calculated fields, and data slicers.

It’s happened to every fundraiser who works with data, Someone calls you for a summary of how each of your organization’s funds are doing over time. When you ask if the summary should be by year, by quarter, by month, or by week, they respond “Yes.” And after you’ve managed to complete all those reports, the same person calls back wanting you to change the gift numbers from “cash received” to “commitments.” And while you’re doing that, could you break out how much of that was solicited by each development officer?

Whenever you have data that must be summed up in different ways, Microsoft Excel’s Pivot Table function is what you need. In a special two-part episode of Excel for Fundraisers Live!, Greg Duke shows you how to complete all of the tasks described above using pivot tables…and how to complete or change those reports in seconds.

In class 2a, he teaches advanced pivot table techniques like creating calculated fields, adding data slicers to animate your reports, and building charts and data visualizations right from your pivot table.

With Excel for Fundraisers Live: Advanced Pivot Tables, you’ll create stunning reports in almost no time.
